The 550 was released in two versions, the Maranello and the Barchetta Pininfarina, both 2-seater coupes that had a front engine configuration, the kind of which Ferrari had not used since the Daytona model came out.  Only 448 Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina have been made, along with 12 prototypes numbered from P01 to P12 on the interior plaques.
